Cattle Station Serenity - Hamilton Downs - June 12th – 21st 2017

Located 75km North West of Alice Springs up the famous Tanami, Hamilton Downs is nestled the Northern side of the West MacDonnell Ranges. A place very few ever get to see. So many subjucts her on offer and secluded secrets only the owners know, who will take us in for private talks and time to create.

The homestead is comprised of five heritage-listed buildings which were constructed between 1910 and 1923.Hamilton Downs was established in 1910, becoming the first registered pastoral property in Central Australia. The property was settled by hotel manager Sid Stanes Jr. and Ted Harris.

It takes its name from a Jay Creek spring, which was discovered by explore John McDouall Stuart in 1860, who then named it after his supporter George Hamilton

Today the homestead is comprised of five heritage-listed buildings constructed between 1910 and 1923. It is set on the (dry) Jay creek, with the spectacular Chewing Range as a backdrop.

Away from the light interference of the town, Hamilton Downs offers the perfect location for astronomers and amateurs to explore the heavens.  

The skies are clear and bright and with a simple pair of binoculars, you can lie back and explore the heavens. Search out the Southern Cross, the galaxies, the planets, the constellations and individual stars.

We have complete privacy on the station, Bunkhouse, Historic Homestead and a private hut for 2 - 3 or tent Accommodations available.
